To make an off-campus call here at work, you have to dial "9" and then your number. Internal calls are just 4-digit extensions. Unfortunately, my extension happens to start with the three-letter prefix of the numbers for our Decatur office. As such, I get a lot of calls from retards who dial (prefix) - (XXXX) instead of 9-404-(prefix) - (XXXX) to deal with the "9" and the 10-digit dialing that Atlanta has had for years.
Some woman just topped all previous dialing idiots.
First: she calls me by mistake. I explain the dialing thing.
Then: she calls me AGAIN. I'm like "I think you forgot the 9......again. Hehe. Yeah. Right. Bye."
Does she call again? You bet, but realized her mistake as soon as I pick up the phone.
One more, for good measure, but I ignore the call. It goes to voice mail and SHE LEAVES A MESSAGE EVEN THOUGH MY NAME AND EXTENSION ARE VERY CLEARLY STATED IN MY OUTGOING MESSAGE.
I shoot her a pity email pointing out her error.
A few minutes later, my phone rings, it's her (we have caller ID), but she figures out her mistake before my VM picks up.
The phone rings two more times....it's her both times.....in the next minute.
Calls finally cease. She either figured it out, gave up, or managed to strangle herself with the phone cord. I'm leaning toward the latter until I hear otherwise.
That is all (skoorb).
