So they guy above my apartment has a water pipe break somewhere and there suddenly becomes a downpour in my bedroom :|. Took at least 30 minutes to get the damn thing shut off. My one waste basket that I used to collect water had at least 25 gallons in by the time the dripping stopped. Ugh...I don't look forward to the cleanup. Well, wish me luck guys!

Wouldn't this be covered by insurance?

The apartment complex has insurance to cover it's property, which is the physical building structure. If any of the OP's property was damaged, he will need to file a claim through his renter's insurance.

My apartment got flooded because of an upstairs neighbor's washer. The complex had the flood cleanup guys there at 2am vacuuming up the water, but no go. The mold set in and the place was done for. It smelled like a rotting cow within 48 hours. I complained and the complex moved me to another unit. I think they had to eventually tear down the walls and scrub the concrete.. basically demolished the unit because of mold caused by semi-major water flood.
