Wow, saw my second Great Horned Owl tonight

I didn't get to positively identify this one because I saw him flying through the tress, but based on the approximate size (roughly two feet tall or more), it must have been a Great Horned. I saw one down in Nashville during the day, just hanging out on a branch. This one was up in the trees when my dog and I came blundering along the path, and he decided to relocate deeper into the woods.

Big birds are impressive!

i think i saw one behind my parents house. very large owl with big tuffts of feathers up over its head, so i assume it was a great horned owl. not really known in this part of texas, though.

I was running through a park last week and this hawk fly right past me and I happened to notice it was carrying some kind of rodent in its' talons. Needless to say I ran off of the pavement and almost twisted my ankle. I thought that was rather impressive also. It was only about 10 ft. max away from me.

They are cool. Years ago, there was one who used to follow me around. One morning, though, he (she?) was dead on my front doorstep. That was sad.
