Wow.. regular 9v battery only last 6months in my smoke detector

i bought regular 9v because they were cheap (2 for $1). only lasted 6motnhs b4 beeping. 🙁

never thought it would be that short of a time span.

my alkaline 9v (Duracell) in my other smoke detector has been there for 3yrs so far.
 
That's why you don't buy batteries at the dollar store. Same thing happened to me. They are sh|t batteries.
 
That's why you always use alkaline batteries. Just get them at walgreens for cheap.

el-cheapos were prebably not alkaline.

Yep, the recommendations are to change the batteries when the Daylight Savings Time changes...although with the new DST law, that means the batteries will be in for about 8 months during the warm months, then 4 months during the cold months...
 
Why exactly are heavy duty batteries called "heavy duty" if they're the cheapest, lousiest things on the market? Don't they use the ancient zinc-chloride recipe?
