It's runs really smooth, it seems to take a small dip in fps sometimes on a big firefight, but it still looks like it's above 30fps even then. I'd say it runs 60fps sometimes, averages about 45 and dips to 30 occasionally. Pretty good altogether.

Another thing I noticed was the textures! WHOA MOMMA! They are REALLY sweet! Man, the PC should get these FOSHO! Sweet.

Another poisitive are the levels. IMO MUCH better than the PC levels. The PC players are going to love these when they get released pretty soon.

Another positive is that everyones on a modem, and fixed hardware, so you KNOW there is no cheating whatsoever and that everyone has the same speed and ping & latency as you. Everything is exactly equal for eveyone. I like that a lot. Because of this, I've found that I can DOMINATE online playing the DC version where in the PC version, I am mostly 1, 2 or 3, depending.

All in all, I love this game! I like it better than my PC version (C2 952mhz, GeForce DDR, 256mb RAM 19" monitor) and I plan on playing it on my big screen tv on the DC from now on.

Very cool everyone. Try it at a friends sometime if you can, and keep an open mind and think about the positives and you may actually like it better.

P.S. I use a keyboard / mouse, so it controls the same for me.

I'm with Spicollidriver1, I have DSL and just couldn't handle going back to a modem. I pay $50 a month for ultra fast latency, and the last thing I want to do is go and play Quake 3 with a ping of 300. Once the ethernet adapter is out, though...

Quake3 was not meant to be played on the Dreamcast. You can't tweak it, can't play mods...you are just stuck with what you get. 30-45fps isn't very nice either...neither is playing quake3 on a 56k connection....neither is playing it in very low resolution.

sorry man, for some things...the dreamcast just sucks!

Actually Kami 30-45fps is bloody great, as long as it never goes under 30fps. You have to remember that DC games is specially tuned to the exact hardware/software setup of the DC (same goes for other consoles - N64, PS2). So even though 30-45fps doesnt seem as good as 80fps or whatever on a GF/T'bird, the DC version just wont go under 30fps, whereas even when you're getting 80fps on the PC, it'l still drop down to 15fps on occasion.

no, actually, it does dip, not so much as for the pc, but it runs probably like

800x600
high lod
texture bar one from right

basically, the "normal" setting. Not worth buying if you have it for a pc, but if your dumb, what the hey?

I have other games for DC like Ecco (demo) which surprisingly runs at 24fps whenever you are in open areas and you do lots of manuvers!

I can't imagine playing it on a 56k.

I wonder if it has dynamic lighting
marks on walls, ect...

Ut sucks badly, so far, it looks/play's bad!

somehow I'd say that it runs like a k6-2 550, v3 3k, 128 sdram,

Because that's like a 35fps system!

I prefer it on the PC where it doesn't drop below 50-60 for me. :p :)

somehow screenshots dont appeal to me. IMO the PC version looks better, altho this isnt my final call since i havnt seen DC q3 in action.

FPS games suck. They are just graphics demos for people who like to buy $300 video cards. ;) DreamCast rocks for two things, fighters and sports!!!

Bah, Soul Calibur, NFL 2k1, even Virtua Tennis, they all rawk. Besides, I am sick of upgrading my video card every 6 months. I would rather buy more DC games :)
