I just downloaded it on a whim after hearing so much about it and it seems like a really great program. Can people share their thoughts on whether or not to stick with it or if I will eventualyl run into tons of problems with it?

I'm mainly concerned that there will be a bunch of sites I won't be able to view properly (I've already had problems trying to read news articles on washingtonpost.com, for instance)....

any thoughts?

also, a big problem: when i click on the "today" tab to look at my AT profile of sorts, I don't get it! instead i get an ad to pay for AT to get greater PM access or something.... wth?

no, after i uninstalled it, it left a permanent file asso. error on my pc when using IE again.

so ridiculous.

so i guesss... err.. stick with it? lol.

IE does the job for me, i don't why opera is so highly recommended.. IE works perfectly with everything i do... so does opera. but with $39.99? i don't think so.. mouse gestures were fun but not worth that..

because opera's renderer is broken. always has been, always will be. coupled with the fact that most pages out there are optimized for ie and do not comply to industry standards, only MS' standards, and you see why. i used opera for a long time, mainly for the mouse gestures, mutltiple windows in 1 app, and i could disable popups in a snap. mozilla has all of these. and it's renderer works for the most part. go get phoenix (mozilla turbo charged) or get mozilla.

IE has been good to me. I have everything in the top bar (File, edit, etc. then forward, back, stop, then address bar). As far as mouse gestures go, it was cool, but my Intellimouse has forward and back on it. Tabbed browsing isn't for me. I don't mind having a bunch of windows open

but opera is soooooo much faster!!!

I hear this every time Opera is mentioned... can you please enlighten me how a browser speeds up your physical link? Of course, I hope you don't mean that the rendering engine is something like 50 milliseconds faster, so it's reason enough to pay $40.

Is that how much it is for non students? Suckers. I paid $15 or $20.

do you even have to pay?? all i have is one simple, small banner ad at the upper right of the screen whcih is practically unnoticeable.

there are soooooooo many features and they're put together so well... i wub opera!

opera is, quite possibly, the most often used program on my computer. It's very fast in terms of render time and retrieving things from cache. I don't use the mouse gestures...but I do use the "Hold right mouse button and left click" back functionality.(vice versa works too). I also find that it works wonderfully when designing web pages. If it renders properly in opera, it renders in IE. The inverse is not always true. m2 is a freakin godsend for IMAP email on windows. It works better than sylpheed or mahogany or any other imap client I've used thus far and is cheaper than the overpriced outlook which suxors with it's filtering exe and scr files which can't be disabled easily.
