Sheesh. 🙁

I wish I could get a CC.

I think that doctor bill that went to collections a couple years back screwed me over. I thought it was realitivly easy for (for example) a student or something with no credit to get at least a department store credit card or something.

A "Platinum" card is meaningless when it carries a $1K limit. 😛

Hehe, Platinum implies more benefits such as interest rates, protection against fraud/theft, etc rather than high spending limits.

edit: I'm going strong with my BankOne visa, $3300 limit at 9.9%, plus an Old Navy account, $500 limit, and a PacSun account with a $700 limit. 🙂 I am 20 years old and in college. At the time I last got a raise on my Visa, I was working a school job at minimum wage. I cringe because I really believe with my 750 FICO I can get above $10,000 on it with the jobs I have now 😉

BOA card at 7.9 fixed. 1K limit
chase card at 8.9. 6k limit
capital1 card at 8.9 1k limit

any else getting low APRs like me?

Citibank 5.4% (this is variable, it's prime + 1%) 25k limit

I don't even know what my interest rate is, because I have not paid interest on a credit card for at least the last 5 years. I think it's around 5.9% on a USAA Platinum, with a $12.5K limit. I also have a platinum Discover (no idea on the limit - maybe $10K) and an Amex Blue.

Nope.. was declined at Sears, Office Max(Or wasit office depot?).. PayPal also declined me.. lol

I should probably stop applying and just get a secured card, but I guess you never know until you try.

Yep that's what I was going to suggest. I have known people who have SH!TTY credit (10x worse than yours) get approved for a SECURED CREDIT CARD with $500 deposit and they were approved.

After 1 year they closed the secured cc and starting get pre-approved regular unsecured cc offers in the mail.

The hard part is saving up the initial $500 deposit.

Yeah.

I was checking the page out the other day. It looks like the minimum is 300$. So that's what I'm going to do..

After I get the money back from my first hot deals forray, I'll add a little to it and open the secured CC, and use it for further hot deals purchases. 😉

Just make sure you're able to make payments on time.

It would suck if you saved up $300 cash, got approved for a secured cc then made a few late payments, LOL. Defeats the whole purpose.

Also if you're currently unemployed (yes a real job, not Hot Deals or eBay) your application may be declined because you have no way to re-pay the cc. So I'd at least get a part time job 1 month before applying, get approved then quit the job.

in the preapproved application, i said my net income was $0 dollars. and i still got approved for those 3 plat card i applied for. wierd.

I don't have 3 credit cards. But I also don't have the type of penis envy that makes me proud of my credit cards, so I seem to manage okay without them.

I have too much credit, but thankfully I rarely charge what I can afford to pay directly out of checking (excepting Costo and electronics purchases which go on Amex). I never let my credit card balance go higher than what I can immediately pay off with my checking account.

I have -

American Express Blue (original)
Chase Platinum
Citi AAdvantage mastercard (joint acct. with parents for office expenses)
+ Charge cards for about a dozen stores.

Total credit line is about $50,000
Amount owed is < 10%

My credit score is about 740. 🙂

Amex Black is supposed to be nice for frequent travellers I suppose. Used to have some kind of deals with the Concord. I don't think the frequent flyer miles matter that much to you though, if you do happen to use that card. Are any of the bonuses really worth it?

I'm guessing that maybe 2-3 AT'ers out of 130,000+ forum members have the Amex Centurion.

You have to spend $$$ A LOT $$$ to get to that level.

The most BLING BLING cc I have received is a pathetic $12k BOFA and $10k Amazon CC.

The Centurion is issued to people who regularly spend a minimum of $100,000 / year or something around that amount.

I was approved for the Amex Platinum just last week. The benefits are INCREDIBLE (personal travel assistance, shopping assistance, FREE companion tickets for flights and cruises) but at $400/year, it was a bit more than I wanted to pay for the privilege.

hm looks like all the travel perks would be nice, much easier to get flights and hotels wherever you want whenever you want. Sounds a lot like what Visa has. There was a show about a while back, they couldn't get anyone from amex to talk about the Centurian though.
