i bought FF I&II for the GBA. well was playing it and the save game died on me. it wouldn't keep a save game at all.

So i contacted Nintendo and they said ship it out since it is within the 30 day guarantee. i sent it in and they just called me.

seems the game i had was not a real Nintendo game! someone had copied it onto a cartridge. even though it is not a real Nintendo game they are still going to honor the warranty and send me a new game!

I did buy the game legit from Target. it was shrink wrapped even!

just happy they are honoring it and sending me a working game.

Weird. Maybe someone bought it and replaced the game and shrink-wrapped it. But then... why not just return an empty case?

Nintendo sent me a new Gameboy (original) when I used sony baterries and they leaked and got really hot and ruined my gameboy. They even paid for shipping, and said that they would clean all the game cartridges I had for free if I shipped them in the same box.

Wow, I just realized the irony. Sony batteries fvcking up my gameboy years ago....Sony laptop batteries exploding. :Q

Because if they open it up (which they really should), you'll be caught.

It's probably a rather large operation they're running, so I'm sure the costs are minimal.

the guy on the phone said its actually pretty common. he said they get a few GBA games a week that are purchased new but are counterfeit.

Target sold you a bootleg game? Huh?

And the products are generally rock-solid durable. There are stories of people running over Game Boys, dropping them from 5th story balconies, leaving a Game Boy in a pan of oil over winter... nope, they all work fine.

It could be fraud committed against the Target corporation itself. There are Chinese companies that have been known to sell counterfeit merchandise of a major brand. They even have the real companies' name on their stationaries, trucks, whatever, so it can be really difficult in some cases to ensure that the product the retailer is buying for resale is actually from the real maker.

it has to be from a large scale counterfeiting operation....hose programmable cartridges are expensive if you buy them to load and play roms on.
