I was just flipping through the channels, and I came upon this system for sale on TV..

Systemax 2.4ghz P4 System

Specs:

Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz
256MB DDR 333 DRAM, expandable to 3GB
533MHz Front Side Bus
80GB ATA 100 7200RPM Hard Drive
6 in 1 Film Reader-front access, accepts IBM Micro Drives, Compact Flash, Smart Media, Secure Digital, & MMC
CD-RW: (32x12x48) DVD:16x max
Unique XX Chassis, Black w/ side window insert
8x AGP
Neon interior w/ rounded cables & 80mm case fan
USB 2.0
ATI Radeon 7000 AGP VGA w/ 64MB & TV Out
2 IEEE 1394 Firewire ports
10/100 LAN w/ remote bootability, WAKE-ON-LAN & VLAN
Integrated 6 Channel AC97 Digital Audio w/ Surround Sound Outputs & SPDIF Optical Outputs

I was surprised to see things like PC2700 and AGP 8X....but I can't recall seeing OEM systems with things like a side panel window and a blue cold cathode light!

What do you guys think?

I'm thinking it's either a Via P4X400 or Sis 648 chipset..

Me neither. I expected it to be awhile before cathodes went mainstream. This is kinda like the first time I heard "newbie" used outside the world of online gaming. I wonder how long it will be before oem's start using aluminum cases....

Edit: Rounded cables too! Didn't notice that until now. Wow.

For seconds, I was going to attack your so-call "cool system", until I realized it is not in HotDeal forum. ;)

Not only that...the guy on TV, in between all that crap they spout ("533mhz FSB is like the Autobahn"
rolleye.gif
), he actually started saying how you could "make it run faster" by something called "overclocking"... :Q

What's next?!?! ;)

Overclocking, yeah, that's not a good idea to recommend on TV. Because when the users buy this rig, overclock, bust something up, who are they gonna complain to? :) Although, I guess it's no skin off my back, just seems like a dumbass thing to do.

That's kinda cool though. Nice looking case.

I'm guessing that it's a Sis648 board - the p4x400s are too hard to come by at this point.

A 7000 with a 2.4 P4? They couldn't upgrade to a 9000?
I have to admit that is the coolest system I've seen on shop at home other than the radeon 7000

:disgust:we made the mistake of buying a systemax comp 2 yrs ago. vvvvveeerrryyyy unstable . to play games i have to remove the side cover and stick a big house fan against it to stop it from locking up. eaven though this seams like a nice system i would be very wary of it. and yes all the s/w they send with it is trash. just my two cents worth. am now going though the forums and learning what good h/w to put in the one i'm going to build .
p.s 1st post - hello to every one.:p
