Rounded cables are easier to route in a cramped case and offer fewer airflow restrictions. In terms of data transfer, though, they're probably equivalent (lacking proper shielding, possibly inferior).

Hell no, rounded cables are much easier to work with than the flat ribbons, especially if you're cramp on space.
