They are normal for Macbooks, nothing to be worried about. They can run up to 80+ C before throating kicks in.

I thought mac's were perfect... maybe cpu's are in zen at those temps.
couldn't hurt to rest your laptop on one of those vented stands
But only if it's endorsed by Apple, otherwise it probabley won't work.

I got a plastic Targus one for a few bucks, and the vents keep everything nice and cool

Apple's designs have a history of dangerously marginal cooling, from the Apple III (at one point Apple suggested dropping it from two inches to reseat popped chips) and the Mac Plus (which would overheat if a user filled all four RAM slots to 4 MB), to the iMac G5 (a friend of mine's sounds like a hairdryer, literally).

Some Apple designs are great, others are not cooled effectively. I had an iBook G3 that would crash playing Age of Empires from overheating. Of course, the problem was probably also related to bad caps, because Apple's iBook G3 models were stung by the bad Chinese supplier. That machine was replaced three times under AppleCare before my demands for a replacement upgrade were met. I received an iBook G4 which was rock solid for a long time (until I started taking it to classes). Unfortunately, after a semester of being moved about, I think the motherboard flexed one too many times due to the soft case. The Macbooks appear to have more rigid cases.

Despite Apple's penchant for poor cooling, many Mac models have had a history of outlasting PCs.
