Wow, my college is #6 on Top Ten Saddest Universities

I was reading this article on the Top Ten universities with the least-satisfied students and mine came in at #6 - U.C. Riverside, lol.

"Life at Riverside can be "very calm, and the school's atmosphere in general is very quiet." Although the city of Riverside has "very little to offer in the way of entertainment," students compensate by joining various clubs and student organizations, including sororities and fraternities, which have a noticeable presence on campus. The school also offers "countless events, including free movie screenings, concerts, academic discussion forums, plays and trips."

Popular campus hangouts include "a great rec center," "the student commons" and "a campus movie theater, where some of our classes are held." Students seem to agree, however, that "intercollegiate sports need more student support." Those with cars leave campus relatively frequently on the weekends, finding plenty to do outside of town; one student explains, "Within an hour's drive you can ski in the mountains, go sunbathing at the beach, visit a major theme park or even hang out in Hollywood for a day."

All of what they say is pretty much true. I'm kinda surprised to see it so high on the list though. But I do agree that the Division I sports were and still are pretty weak at U.C.R., and the campus becomes a ghost town on the weekends.

the description makes it sound amazing. The reason UCR students are probably unsatisfied is because they are all from california and spoiled by the awesomeness of everything else before realizing that any midwestern state university probably has even less to do.

Huh, I almost went to Illinois Institute of Technology, #10. They gave me a free ride scholarship. However they're right in the ghetto of Chicago (not really but seemed like it to me) and everything looks old and crappy...

I'm not surprised that two service academies made the list: USMMA and the USCGA (which incidentally are two of the hardest schools to get into). A friend's brother is at the Coast Guard and is apparently enjoying it.

I know a few people that go to or went to Stoner Brook in NY.

fixed

Haha, I go there, and while the title fits nicely, it's not as bad as the upstate school in drug abuse.

That being said, the only reason it's so high on that list is because half the students commute, and the half that dorm go home on weekends because there's "nothing" to do. It's not as bad as it seems. Plus the academics offset any social shortcomings I suppose.

That sucks...I'd hate to go to one of those schools.

That said, Virginia Tech is in the top 5 of their campus food ranking and #1 on other lists. Can't wait to get back.

LOL. You think that was the ghetto? You're way off.

Yeah. I was expecting D.U up there too.

You new kids are satisfied WAY too easily.

When we were on campus, there were protest rallies almost everyday 😛

Fuck, I went to #2 NJIT for about 3 months and left because there is NOTHING to do there but kill yourself. I went out there on a full ride for volleyball, wrong choice.

LOL

I visited the Denver School of Mines, and those were some unhappy campers. I think there were 50 males for every female or something terrifying like that.

Ok shens SUNY Albany is #9.
Anyone who's ever been to SUNY Albany can attest it's a huge party school and consistently rated in the top schools for that.

This. They should all visit Syracuse University.

Yes, yes; I remember having the pleasure of going there when it was the #1 party school. Things have changed up there though. The places where off campus students were living has been encroached on by ghetto; not that it was ever nice, but it's worse now.

Yeah, I know it isn't but is seemed like it to me. 😛 Yeah I'm from a town of some 12,000... there's a reason I didn't go to IIT.

Haha. I went to the #1 school - sorta. I was there for the first couple weeks of indoctrination and it was hell. I got out of there a short time after and went to a different college.
