Im running 9800pro and put a VGA silencer on it, with that silencer my case temp dropped around 5 degrees!!! I put a heat sensor on the backside of the GPU and im at about 108 F??? is this about right? I did the conversion seems to match up. just wanted to make sure i put the cooler on correctly!

You're fine. Plus if you put it on wrong your computer probably wouldn't boot, you'd get several beeps

i installed mine on Monday - it's a MONSTER - bigger and heaver than the card itself. But it works GREAT - dropped my GPU temp a good 10 C.

i think it's worth the $11 + shipping (still current Hot Deal)

edit oh . .. 108 F not C . .. it's ok

ooops 😱

It's a very normal temp. It's one of the side effects of ATI using tiny piece of crap heatsinks with tiny little fans that don't make any noise. If you don't like it running that hot, get an Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer.

As long as it isn't crashing then I'd say its fine. DOnt micromanage too much, let it do it's thing 🙂

some of the newer generation cards (6800) runs hot as hell by default

Not true...my 6800GT @ ultra speeds, even after about 2 hours of PainKiller or FarCry I see temps no higher than 62C
