All the famly guys at work don't go to movies. It's about $75 for a family of 5 if you get popcorn and candy. If just mom and Dad goes its the same if they get a babysitter.

I usually just go with my young son, who pays his own way, and I get the senior discount.

ya, i take my kids and wife to the movies about 4 or 5 times a year. only kids movies. we saw Santa Claus: The Escape Claus tonite.

it was funny enough and my wife and kids all really enjoyed it.

that's definitely enough of a reason for me to spend the money.

If you're complaining about ticket prices, you shouldn't be going to the theatres. Considering the median income of a middle class family, $42 for tickets is "cheap."

I think it's more about the continuous rise in prices = screwing the consumer, rather than the actual cost of the tickets. As mentioned by others, most remember when they were $5.

Movie theatres are a ripoff anyways. Pay extra money, sit in a dirty chair, be surrounded my loud and annoying people, and watch a screen covered in crap just so you can see a movie a few months earlier. ~$4 DVDs off eBay FTW!

Yup, it's like $6 a ticket at Costco.

Yeah, I dumped $60 for a family of 4 and popcorn a couple of weeks ago. Tickets are $9.75 at our theaters, and $12 for certain "Director" theaters.

And they wonder why people aren't going to movies anymore.

wich is why i just buy the DVD's of movies i want to wathc. when you can buy it for $16 vs paying $8 each (for me and my wife) plus i can watch it in my home without screaming kids or people on phones.

granted some movies you really need to see on the big screen. such as starwars, spider-man etc

Just watched MI:3 last night in my home theater. Excellent action movie; great for showing off the big-screen and the surround sound.

I use Netflix, so the cost per movie is really low.

On a completely unrelated note, 50pk TDK 16X DVD+R(or -R) are only $11.99 at Circuit City.

wow i didnt realize the cost. it seems it would be better to pay for a home theater system. as someone suggested. nothing fancy but i bet a 42 inch or something and decent speakers wouldnt be bad at all.

Buy tickets from your local college box office. You could save a few bucks off each ticket.
