Wow.. Maxtor DM45+ and Promise ata100

Just got it , installed win98se in 12 mins on a k62/500@550. Didn't realize what i was missing (p5a , ata 33). I recommend this combination to anyone who is value minded but still loves performance 🙂

All you need now is to get that soldering iron out & mod the card to do Raid 0.

Then you'll see even more speed.😉

Actually you don't want to. There is some wierd thing with Maxtor drives firmwares that causes them to perform like dogs when in a stiped array with another maxtor drive.

Yes. I had heard about that , now i see how. Not too hard , but i need a much better iron i think. tyvm. And i do agree, When i do try it ,i think give it a go with something other than maxtor's. I recall hearing they don't do ata100 raid too well. thx for the tips....PS , If you two ever got together ,good chance Warrenton could walk a highwire. lol
