I just got off the phone with my Dad and found out that his company is sending him to Baton Rogue to help with the cleanup and repair of the oil facilities in Louisiana. The kicker was when I asked him if he knew how long he'd be there and he said, "Hopefully not too long since it is 12 hour days, 6 or 7 days a week, with only four days off a month."

I hope he realizes what a miserable place Baton Rouge is right now. It really couldn't support its population before Katrina and Rita. Now its even worse.

I think that is part of the reason why he is not thrilled with going. At least he got a couple of months off from his last job working in Vegas where they worked similar but not quite as crazy hours. Just a little while longer until he retires though.

My dad works for Citgo in Lake Charles. Freaking mess.

Yeah, Baton Rouge is ridiculous right now. What used to be a 10 minute drive is now at least an hour...

It's actually gotten a lot better where I am (downtown). Even heading into campus at LSU now is a dream compared to a month and a half ago. Things are slowly getting back to normal.

I have friend who is an engineer in the Oil Industry down here in Lafayette, and he says that if they are lucky 40% production might happen by Christmas. Further, he said that it will be around 17 months before everything is rebuilt and online as before the storms, time enough for another hurricane season.

This sucks
