Wow, Kobe just had an awesome dunk! But why does he have to be an ass about it?

Please, I love the selective memory people have. NO one remember's when MJ yoked it over Dikembe and turned to him and wagged his fingers? How about the time he crammed it over Ewing and made sure to get it Ewing's face and let him know?

This basketball, talking sh1t is a part of it. If you guys find that behaviour offensive to your delicate sensibilities, maybe baseball with it's 4782054 differen't "unsaid" rules would be better.

its so unfair to compare Jordan to current players there not even close

or the talent level in the NBA right now is so high that no one *superstar* stands out like jordan did

It's a force of habit on his part.

as the years progressed...the talent level in the nba surged......also, it's a tons lot more physical now than it was then...it was very flashy and finessy in the late 80's up to the mid 90's...now it's just raw physical...power....speed..........defensive intensity is up....that's why just being able to stand out among stars like kobe is amazing....

and...man thanks for the capture guys!!! ATOT rules cuz of u TIVO/tv-capture dudes!! omg i'm puking all over the place watching it over and over again...it's just too crazy man!!!!!!!

This is something you will notice a lot pf players do. Don't let the jealousy blind ya.

And that's exactly my point. Jordan isn't above all the players. He's just like them.

I am not a Jwhoredone fan.

Thank you for pointing out what should be obvious to the Jordan Jockers.

Why do Jordan Jockers hate Kobe?

Amazing dunk! Dunk of the season so far, by far.

But why does he have to make that face and stare down the fans, whoever afterwards?
That seems to be the trend these days.
Dunk it unnecessarily hard, then walk away staring into space trying to look hardcore (Kobe, Kmart, Tmac, Shaq, J. O'neal, Webber etc.).

I don't remember classy guys like Jordan ever doing that.
he's staring at the fans IN LOS ANGELES. don't try to find something negative.

Sorry, I'm talking about the game in NY before all star break.

Jordan's scandals are off the court (not that those are ok)... we're discussing on the court behaviour (i.e. fights, shoving refs, breaking equipment).

And Jordan's tongue thing is not a taunt, it's a habit.

but then wasn't Jordan the best in the game not only because of his physical skills, but also in great part to his MENTAL edge?
he used to taunt, talk trash, and got into people's heads all the time...

as for the whole dunk and stare thing...yeah, sometime's it's ridiculus...like when you do it with 3 minutes remaining and your team down by 20...

but in the heat of the moment it gets the fans either pumped or deflated, shifts or strengthens momentum...etc...etc..

and in my opinion, they've really watered down basketball...

no more trash talking (not as much...they're automatic Technicals now)....taunting (or excessive celebration i guess, is another Technical)
slapping the backboard after a dunk (kobe did it against the magic, got a technical)....they've really cut down on player reactions after plays....

and as for the whole attitude thing, i think society as a whole is a lot more self-centered now...
and the athletes all think they're rap stars or something...with the "BLING BLING" and the "DUBS"
