Wow.. it takes 3 weeks to ship something from DC to TX via USPS PArcel post

Mailed package 2/6, they recieved today (2/24).

found out that parcel post = ship it via truck. they're driving my package all the way to texas.

next time i'll probably choose priority mail (3-4 days).. live and learn

oh, also found out that if it goes overseas, they ship it by boat (cheapest option). and it'll take 2months to arrive. (boat wont leave till it's full.)
 
Um, why didn't you use air parcel post?

I just sent a 30lb giant package to Montreal Canada via USPS Air Parcel Post, and it got there in 7 business days. Reasonable price, too.

2 months or more. I had a customer once whose package took 4 months to get to Amsterdam. You can either get it cheap or fast, but not both.
 
and this is why fedex and ups were a good idea, despite what the business school professors said to the founders of each (i believe the fedex guy was laughed at)

i always get media mail in 7days or less (half.com).

still cant believe that parcel post is 21days

It doesn't always take that long, though. 🙂
 
This is why I never ship packages to people via Parcel Post. I always specifically request that people not ship to me via Parcel Post in my WTB/TF threads.
 
I sent a package from Denver to Brownsville TX on Feb 17. It arrived in Brownsville on Feb 22 but it has not been delivered to the buyer yet. Thankfully I insured it.
