WOW it finally happened!

I always wondered why @ 50 I have never been picked for Jury duty.

Today I finally got notice that I've been PICKED!

Don't know WHY I should be excited about this, but I am! 😉

I finally have the POWER !!! 😉

Until recently I kept my mailing address as my home (Parents home) which was a few states away. I've been called for Jury Duty twice and have weasled out of it both times on the minor technicality that I wasnt living in state 😀

I've always thought it'd be interesting to serve on a jury, dunno why so many people avoid it like the plague.

Then again, I'm an avid JAG fan so I think I have a biased view on what actually happens in a courtroom...😛

I've been called for jury duty once. I don't know what my boss at the time did but he made it clear to them that I couldn't be gone for too long. Spent one day on jury duty, waited around for a few hours, was told the person had made a deal and we could go home. They told me I didn't need to come back the next day.

On the other hand I have a friend who was stuck in jury duty for several months.

You'll instantly hate it if it's a civil suit. I was just on a civil case 3 weeks ago, and it was very difficult pay attention. Of course it probably had to do with the plaintiff's lawyer being extremely boring with his questioning.

you better hope it wont last long, one of my friends got called for it and has been listening to bunch of lawyers talking for 5 months 😉

Well the summons said it was a one day, one trial thing so I at least get to see how things work with out being tied up for any length of time.

I couldn't have asked for a better "introduction" to the system than this.

I deliberately get my name on the jury list for murder trials and I'm ALWAYS pro-death before I even hear the case. The case is just a waste of time to me. I never allow the other 11 jurers to deliberate for very long either. It's always guilty and death sentence recommended!

Court: (n): Where your fate is in the hands of a bunch of people that werent smart enough to get out of Jury Duty.

Has your wife stopped putting out or WHAT? 😉

OH I could get out of it if I wanted to, ("It's your lucky day! You couldn't have made a better choice than ME to be on the jury. I can tell at one glance it some one is guilty or not!") But I WANT to serve.

I'm a experience junkie. I'd like to do EVERYTHING at least once before I die. (well MOST everything, I'll PASS on same sex sex...) 😉

Yea, I had jury duty one day. I got it in the mail for a court that was maybe 10 minutes away and I had to be there at 10AM. Well because I was in school, I postponed it....which they allowed but then told me to show up at a courthouse that is 40 minutes away at 7AM.:Q Well I showed up and ended up talking to this girl the whole day (which could turn into a whole new YAGT), but I didnt even get questioned to see if they wanted me to be on the jury. It would have been a 1 day domestic violence trial. I wouldnt say that jury duty is horrible. The only thing that pissed me off is my work prorates how much they pay based on your average hours/week YTD...and considering I was in school I only worked like 2 days per week, so they were only going to pay me like 3 or 4 hours, but I argued with them saying that I am out of school and if I didnt have jury duty then I would have worked 8 hours that day. I ended up getting paid 6 hours.

repeat after me:

"He must be guilty. Why would the police arrest him if he didn't do it?"

"Your excused, sir..."
