Wow, insane security measures on my Credit Card

So I don't use this card much, but I just moved into an apartment and need to furnish it so I drug it out. Never made a large purchase before.

Tried to buy a couch. The lady came back and said I needed to call the credit card company to verify payment. To do this, I had to get through several levels of security.

Level 1: Automated system asks for my credit card number and zip code where my billing address is.

Level 2: A guy answers, asks for my mothers maiden name and the last 4 of my social. He then transfers me to:

Level 3: A woman answers. She asks again for the last 4 of my social, and then asks "what state issued you your social security number." Then she needed to know the name of the place I was making the purchase and how much it was.

Hehe... the "which state issued you your social" was a new one. Through me for a loop 😛

Hmmm, sounds like you could use some help. Post your SS# and CC number here and we'll try to straighten it out. Also, they will probably ask for that number on the back as well.

You can trust us, we knew your mom back in high school before she got married. Trying to remember her name back then, what was it?
