I've been an Amazon Prime customer for almost three years now, and I love it. However, they may have outdone themselves this time. They're running a special, buy one get one free on certain Kinect games, so I figured I'd get in on that. Ordered at 9:58pm last night, with the standard Prime 2 day shipping. Got the shipping notification this morning at 8:30am, thought it was weird because it was shipping via Dynamex, which I've never heard of. I got back from the gym just now, at 3pm, and the package was already on my doorstep. Under an 18 hour turnaround from order to deliver. Very impressive.

Seriously...Prime is well worth the money.

Amazon is wonderful. And they get bonus points for sticking it to the state of California. :D

As you might know, many states have been pushing to start having internet retailers collect taxes whenever one of their residents buys stuff online. As it is written in most states right now, it's up to individuals to faithfully declare all of their internet purchases and pay sales tax on them. Of course, no one except Ned Flanders does that, so rather than state governments pursuing individual taxpayers, they're targeting corporations.

California was one of the more recent states to demand Amazon start collecting state taxes from its Californian buyers, arguing that Amazon's affiliates in the state gave Amazon a physical presence in California. Amazon told California to eat it, and canceled all of its California-based affiliate contracts.

Very aware. That doesn't make this any less impressive. 18 hours from order to doorstop, on a Saturday no less, is very impressive.

Saturday, maybe. That's kinda weird that they deliver on Saturdays. I thought even with Prime they didn't do Saturday shipping, but maybe that's different for Seattle area on certain purchases such as Kindle games... (omfg)

You live in Seattle. Amazon is a bit different if you're in the Seattle area.

Normally, with Prime, if you pay extra you can get Saturday express delivery. In fact, for $3.99 it was an option....but I didn't choose it.

I think that's Seattle area only. I've done 2 day and 1 day shipping with Prime and they skipped Saturday and Sunday... I remember ordering 1 day shipping on a Thursday or something and didn't get it until Monday or Tuesday because that's just how it was with them. Of course, I didn't live in Seattle at the time.

Zappos is equally good. My gf ordered shoes off zappos at night with standard shipping and the ups guy showed up the next day with them. Not sure if they are just working 24hrs a day or what.

Amazon owns Zappos.

Zappos has always been good though.

I once ordered something from Amazon.com and got it in three days.

The thing was, I was in Iraq at the time :D

We went back to the FOB (big base) for maintenance once a month for three days. This was the only time we had internet and phones and all that (normally we were on a very small outpost). I ordered something right when I got in. I got it just as we were leaving to head back to the outpost. I was very impressed (I expected to get it a few weeks later on a supply convoy.
