anyone got any tips??

Whatever you do:
  1. Don't give us the exact errors. That makes this game too easy.
  2. Don't give us a hardware list (and no, your "myrig" link doesn't work). It might point out an issue.

Don't worry, exact errors aren't important. Just make sure you don't give us enough information to even think about googling for a solution.

IDE chipset? I couldn't find that information in your post or on abit.com.tw.

well true they are horrible, but if something was up with the ati drivers, he should still be able to get to the text login.

Tried a d/l of 3.3.2test2 and when I burned it, I got block mismatch and it will not boot. What version is everyone using?

Thanks for the feedback/rant. I made a MEPIS CD and was considering to install it as a second OS when I reformat my computer (which should be within a week or so), and this gives me encouragement.

The only "problem" I encountered with the liveCD is the ATI driver support, but I did not install the new drivers (I don't exactly know how, yet).

Thanks all:

I tried 3.3.1 and it is fine. D/L site must have had a bad iso when I tried it.

Yeah I've found that the version 3.3.2.test2 on the ftp servers Mepis lists show the size as 701MB (around there) and then when I downloaded it from one of them the size was shown as 711MB (around there). So something is up with them. I just found a torrent for the iso at the tracker I listed above and the filesize was about 687MB. So I just downloaded the torrent, rechecked the file I've downloaded with the hash, and I had about 99.7 percent done, then just finished downloading it (I love bit torrent). If you guys are going to download the latest one, please download it through bit torrent. The ftp servers garbled it. But 3.3.1 works fine from the ftp servers.
