Thats ok, my dorm at school was limited by the wiring to 10mbit at each port, but in the newer dorms where the wiring was gigabit we would max out 100tx cards we'd do like 8x1200k/sec wish I'd had a gbit card to really go at the speed.

Enet in my dorms was limited to 750k/s down and 1500k/s up
that really sucked

100Mbit fibre-to-the-door at home, for realistic home prices. And before you moan, its more to do with the modern infrastructure , density and demand in Japan.
