Why the fuck is it his job to inform the dumbass employees of a thief? That is ridiculous.

If this were someones house or something, that would be different - as that would result in a 911 call. If I see someone stealing in a retail store, I could give two shits. I'm not going to hunt down an employee.

Because you simply cannot be bothered to make mention of it. At least say "hey that guy stole stuff right in front of you" and make the employees feel like idiots or something it you want to be mean about it.

I fail to see how you're "sticking your neck out" over a petty thief. You're not, just making mention of the guy.

So what if this "petty thief" turns around and then breaks into your neighbor's or your own house, when he could have been stopped before hand had you said something?

Basically, by ignoring thieves - regardless of how "petty" they may appear - you're doing all of society a great disservice.

No, I'm not afraid he's going to shoot me. It's just none of my business. If the retail establishment has problems with thieves, they can invest in security equipment. They do not and should not rely on regular customers to report theft.

As I work in retail LP, I see this all the time. Most thieves are pretty easy to spot.

Anyone who is also afraid to speak up about seeing a thief is an absolute pussy. They aren't going to do shit! These are the people who are too afraid to do real crimes so they steal merchandise from big-box retailers. It's how it is. You are not going to get shot/stabbed/raped or whatever.

And for Eli, if you saw it, you are not minding your own business. Way to be a super pansy man by not having the balls to say something. That same petty thief could be rifling through your car when you go into the next crappy store.

We then lost track of him after that. It was pretty funny because he was stealing a lot of stuff while looking obviously like a thieft but did not get caught.

if it's in a mall they probably have him on tape, and nabbed him the parking lot. Happens a lot.
 
OK, so what would the proper procedure be? Call 911? Track down an employee and tell them that I just saw some dude steal something? Give a description? lol...

I'm not a nosy person. It has nothing to do with being a pansy or a pussy, it's just none of my business and I don't want to be involved in said business.
