wow..how many people are in the same boat?
i totally hate my job and the people i work for. i've been here 4yrs too.
i fantasize about quitting my job EVERY week...but i need the paycheck.
i have begun looking but not actively. it WILL happen. I will be first to report here when
it happens 😀 congrats.

May I suggest you load 90+ gigs of porn on your HD and let the boss find it?

Your subsequent firing should give you plenty of motivation to find another job quickly.

😛

Bad idea if the potential boss calls the old boss.

I can't say I'm unhappy about it either... I have a few jobs in the pipeline and would start in July, but I'm glad to say I finally quit my current job. And no two weeks notice -- I just walked out.

Situtation was pretty easy.... I was doing some maintenence stuff when the owner asks me why two laptops haven't been deployed for some sales people. I had the laptops setup, they just weren't HANDED to the salespeople, since I was told to hold onto them by the VP of IT. So I tell the owner this, and he brings the VP in and starts yelling at him like a 10 year old child. Then, when the owner is done blowing his top, the VP looks at me and starts yelling -- although it's not my fault, and starts saying "Why didn't you deploy those laptops!?!?! Why do I give you a paycheck?" To which I paused, looked at him, and said... "Don't worry... you don't have to give me one any more. I quit."

I gave him my company cellphone, deleted the history/cookies from my work PC, deleted any extra files, and walked out. It felt REALLY good.

Apparently one of my ex co-workers called me and said that the owner was talking sh*t about me, about how I left them in the lurch, how I'm 'ungrateful', and how I really wasn't that good at my job. Granted, all the employees of the company with whom I interacted on a day-to-day basis have told me that I do my job much better than my predecessor and am much more knowledgeable.

I'm glad to have quit, and while I won't have a paycheck for two weeks, I look forward to starting a new job come July.

I have not felt this good in a long time, what a feeling of satisfaction and my mind is now at ease. I feel bad leaving on the spot but I figure the longer I stayed the more I'd have to put up with, and I'm a nice guy and all... but I'm not a doormat. Sorry, just having a happy day and wanted to share.

Inspirational to all of us.

Isn't that bad though? not to give two weeks notice and leave on bad terms. Since your next job will likely contact your previous employer. Its a mark on your record that you didn't give notice or something isn't it? Maybe i'm wrong, i dunno. good luck

Sounds like they suck anyway, congrats.

They can only contact them if he uses them as a reference. 😉

Upon reading the thread, I have determined that you need to learn how to cope. Unless this was something that was simmering for quite some time, you had no good reason to quit.

No cookies for Scribe.

You obviously have never had a stressful employer. I worked at CompUSSR for a while, and come chirstmas time, I had had enough of 2.5 years of their crap, and told the store manager to shove it, and quite, leaving them without one of their Sales Managers, and top sales person. The instant I walked out the door, I felt like a new person.

I would've wanted to stick around, just to see them scramble.. 😀

I can see your point, but there comes a point where the stress overrides everything. And when you can see no change, no relief coming, no vacation, no holiday off, no nothing, it's enough to make you loose your mind.

what do you do for a living? for a minute, it sounded like we both do the same type of work.

Congrats on quitting and finding a new job....I'm trying to do the same right now. Fvckin piece-of-sh!t coworker is an @sshole who hides behind his PC and the phone instead of owning up to issues we have had at work. You'd be hard-pressed to find a bigger pussy than him
