Wow... I quit my job today,,,

I can't say I'm unhappy about it either... I have a few jobs in the pipeline and would start in July, but I'm glad to say I finally quit my current job. And no two weeks notice -- I just walked out.

Situtation was pretty easy.... I was doing some maintenence stuff when the owner asks me why two laptops haven't been deployed for some sales people. I had the laptops setup, they just weren't HANDED to the salespeople, since I was told to hold onto them by the VP of IT. So I tell the owner this, and he brings the VP in and starts yelling at him like a 10 year old child. Then, when the owner is done blowing his top, the VP looks at me and starts yelling -- although it's not my fault, and starts saying "Why didn't you deploy those laptops!?!?! Why do I give you a paycheck?" To which I paused, looked at him, and said... "Don't worry... you don't have to give me one any more. I quit."

I gave him my company cellphone, deleted the history/cookies from my work PC, deleted any extra files, and walked out. It felt REALLY good.

Apparently one of my ex co-workers called me and said that the owner was talking sh*t about me, about how I left them in the lurch, how I'm 'ungrateful', and how I really wasn't that good at my job. Granted, all the employees of the company with whom I interacted on a day-to-day basis have told me that I do my job much better than my predecessor and am much more knowledgeable.

I'm glad to have quit, and while I won't have a paycheck for two weeks, I look forward to starting a new job come July.

I have not felt this good in a long time, what a feeling of satisfaction and my mind is now at ease. I feel bad leaving on the spot but I figure the longer I stayed the more I'd have to put up with, and I'm a nice guy and all... but I'm not a doormat. Sorry, just having a happy day and wanted to share.

sounds good dude, best of luck in your future

people that treat people bad stink, there is no call for that in the workplace

Upon reading the thread, I have determined that you need to learn how to cope. Unless this was something that was simmering for quite some time, you had no good reason to quit.

Wrong. Managers need to learn that they'll take it in the a$$ if they treat people with a single ounce less dignity than they deserve. I've done it many times and will continue to do so. Money is irrelevant, only right and truth and honor and justice matter. Businesses are not impressive, important, or in control. They will learn this. It will take time, it will be a hard lesson. But ignorant ego-centric a$$hats like those two will die of a coronary at 45 while those of us who live good lives and understand what it's all about will spend each day content and happy.

wow..how many people are in the same boat?
i totally hate my job and the people i work for. i've been here 4yrs too.
i fantasize about quitting my job EVERY week...but i need the paycheck.
i have begun looking but not actively. it WILL happen. I will be first to report here when
it happens 😀 congrats.

If everyone that suffers from poor management like Scribe walked out on their jobs, I think the global coporate paradigm would stop for a moment, then push for the development of automated automatons to replace the once faithful employee.

Good luck in finding work where your dignity and worth is better recognized. BTW, what was your wage?

I love my job; and have a good working relationship with my bo$$es. The most important thing is; if my bo$$es screw up / ask me to do something that *might* get them into trouble later; they ADMIT THEIR FAULT. And I am expected to do the same in case I screw up.

Having said that; I feel sorry for the kind of work environment the OP was sop far. It sux to have people who tend to blame their subordinates as they see fit. In any case, the OP should try to be courteus and send a written resignation letter / notice; send it by mail w/ delivery confirmation.

Who is going to create those automated systems? Ah hah! to the OP, because stupid ass management sucks.

Being how the owner could talk to workers of the firm like they were juveniles, I'm not surprised how this is carrying out after you departed.

Best of luck to you. 🙂

Exactly.

Last year I worked four months for a small company. I was on location in Denver with the owner. We had already had problems in the four months but things started getting really sour in Denver. After ten days of working 8 to 11 hours each day in a row (and still only being paid 40 hours per week), he calls me and goes off on me like he's talking to a 7 year old that has misbehaved. He was across the hall, and called me instead of talking face to face. I packed my stuff, knocked on his door, handed him my hotel key card, and walked. I had 15 hours of driving a rental car back to Phoenix to think the whole four months over. A month later I started my own business and I haven't looked back. 🙂
