so my nominee for the worst car handling car [driven by andylawcc] is.....

yes, it is comfortable.... but it better be. The steering feels numb and detached, very detached in fact. Every second the car reminds me of its massive weight through its rather unacceptable body roll. Acceleration is adequate for the 3.2 V6, on the other hand.

verdict: I would hate to drive that car, but I wouldn't mind to sit in one.
 
Interesting. Though I'm sure the demographic interested in owning this car really won't care if it handles like it's on rails or not.
 
the body roll on the "luxury" cars is much more antiprogressive meaning it seems bad but only the first few degrees then it curtails itself - a lot
 
Mercedes are giant turds, slow with horrible handling. I'd recommend a Mitsubishi Evolution. One of the best handling cars for around 30k.
 
I drove Mercedes Benz boat of a car w/ some anemic V12 or something
it felt dangerous to drive..so noncommunicative..when you turn the wheel you get no fedback..no sense the car would turn..
same w/ the gas...u press it andnothing happens...it was scary...

Uh... different market completely.

Have you driven an Evo? I personally don't like it, would much rather have a simple RWD layout, haven't like AWD yet

it was never meant to be driven fast anyway. it's a luxury cruiser.

Yeah, in luxury cars like this you don't feel the acceleration, which is somewhat nice for a daily driver.

Remember, it's a MERCEDES, these are daily drivers for the most part!

there are at least 3 Mercedes I can think of off the top of my head that pump more than 600 HP and ~730 lb/ft of torque.

stock.

they will chew up Evo's and spit them out like sunflower seeds.

and they can do it while being practical daily drivers with unparalleled comfort, instead of harsh buzzy little deathtraps.

don't get me wrong, I think the Evo is awesome, but this is like comparing a Burger King Whopper to a homemade BBQ feast. The Whopper may be cheaper and have some meat, but you get the sh!ts afterwards and it won't taste nearly as good or be as good of a way to spend time with friends.

excellent point...it seems that the wrx and lancer are a lot of people solution for all types of cars...regardless of what exactly someone is looking for, you can be guranteed that there are gonna be a couple of wrx/lancer suggestions even when they are so out of place.

The cars you are talking about are $100,000+ and last time I checked this guy isn't Bill Gates. I don't care how "boy racer" it seems to you. How in the hell can you deny its power and suspension capabilities which are OUTSTANDING for what you are paying. I wouldn't call it non-luxury either just because it doesn't have a navigation system that barely works anyway.

Apples to oranges.....I don't care, the Evo is a serious performer.

Evo has an incredibly uncomfortable, loud, unrefined ride. Sure it can whip around a track, but a fraction of the people who buy them actually put them on the track. Most are boy racers who love to zip from red light to red light in residential areas. I praise the high insurance premiums morons like that pay for thoes cars.
 
You didn't own yourself. You are ABSOLUTELY right, Mercedes for the most part are giant turds on the road. If you want a sluggish, bulky and horribly handling car just buy a 91 Towncar or Cadillar De Ville.

Yes, we all know the McLaren Mercedes is a beast, but this man is NOT spending $500,000 on a car.

since you brought that up, I sat in my friend's 1999 323i: the ride was pretty good (actually more-than-good) and handling was great (my friend is a rather crazy driver, but minimal body roll is experienced when she zigzag thru traffic). I think that's an excellent job how BMW balances ride comfort and handling.
Acceleration on that 2.3 I-6 wasn't top notch, but as it got better as it revs.

Fantastic, way to stereotype all Evo owners. Well I can play that game and do the same to Mercedes, but I won't. Mercedes are big, bulky,and accelerate slow for the most part. I don't care how stuck up you are and feel the need to drive an overpriced TURD. Your not impressing anyone here. I can actually appreciate the quality and refinement of an EVO. But I guess your flawed logic suggests because some rich kids drive it and race around town, its now all of a sudden not a great car?
