Yeah, I got him to remove my personal info. I edited out all my posts but whatever. Going to start another eBay account. Might keep ns1 as my buying id and have a different selling id

Yes indeed.

rural means its off their beaten path, so to speak. it requires a delivery driver that isnt on a regular route to deliver it, so its in essence an inconvenience to them. hence, the extra charge. you should add a disclaimer that rural areas will be charged the rural fee on top of shipping.

Unfortunately I have no way of knowing that until I drop it off to UPS. I just bundle it with fixed shipping prices. You win some you lose some.

my reason is just plain ole phobia. i dont even know if im totally anonymous or not (if you feel the need to test it, send me a PM instead of posting it here... please). i just dont mix the net with my RL. no one i know IRL plays online games or reads forums, so its not too hard to keep them separate.

is having two ebay accounts permitted? (one for buying one for selling?)

I just bought some plantar wart freezing crap with my account, so I was kinda hesitant for it to show up in my feedback to potential buyers, but oh well...

Geeze, can't believe Ive been on there for 9 years now.

My little rule of thumb: never post anything that you don't want someone in "the real world" to find out about. That includes your boss, neighbor, spouse, etc. It's a small world; doesn't take much of a "coincidence" before someone puts 2 and 2 together somewhere. Once that info is available, anyone can find it.

There are companies now that will hunt down people online and see what they're posting, when considering them for job positions.

That's good advice.
That said ...
I know I've made some really really stupid posts before, and I don't hide my name or anything in my profile.
That said ... I'm hoping my posts are more positive than negative overall.

Tell you what... I'll test it. Google is your friend or maybe enemy.
Hmmmm.. picture from ATOT? http://www.safey.net/pics/gallery/ATOT/hanoverphist

Wow, not a lot of hits for that username... must be that there aren't dozens of people with that name. Let's scroll down a little past that picture. Whoa! on the collar me dot com bdsm website:
HanoverPhist. Male Dominant, 36, Atlanta, Georgia ... HanoverPhist. Dominant Male. Atlanta. Georgia. 6'1". 235 lbs. 36. Straight. Caucasian.
posted on the collarme.com website!

Hmmmm... looking at the two pictures... are those the same guy?!
Then there's the hanoverphist website - and on one of those pages you see a different perspective on a guy's head... hmmmm... is it the same guy? The earing kinda matches, bald... Hmmmm... website And... a name. Jason?! Then, on the whois for that site, there's a name, address, etc. listed for Jason.

Now, I only spent a couple minutes doing this; I'm pretty sure the guys in those pictures aren't the same guy (although I found three similar enough that I could show you how easy it is to make a connection sometimes.) Most people don't visit 20 different sites online and have 20 different nicknames online.

The one benefit I have I suppose is that my full name is the same name as a semi famous klezmer musician, and my username is a famous techno artist. Very few things seem to link the two :)

I don't ebay much, but haven't they pretty much got the system down to where if you join and can bid then they have your credit card/bank acct info and will cancel your acct or something if you don't pay?

I remember seeing a thread on another board where some guy had a rep for calling people gay. Then someone found him on My Space and it showed him basically begging for a girlfriend. THEN from info there they found his EBay account and he was the high bidder on some huge dildo toy in the adult section....it was hilarious and scary how that was all pieced together :D
