Since my anonymity is blown anyway, here's the full story

ref link: http://www.fatwallet.com/forum...hreadid=804614&start=0

I've seen it happen on ATOT, internet sleuths go digging and post personal info/other info that you don't want posted online for the public to see. So as you may/may not know, I went by NeuroSynapsis everywhere, including eBay. Recently I was kinda concerned, so I changed my AT name -> Ns1. My FW name remained the same. My eBay name also changed slightly.

Fast forward. So I guess I was too opinionated on FW and this doucher goes digging. He finds my eBay username and posts for all to see. I am not pleased. I don't know how he found it and that's pretty irrelevant at this point. This matters to me because I don't want any vindictive assholes bidding on my auctions and not paying, or otherwise messing with my auctions. My opinions should be separated from my business.

So WTF do I do now? I got a high feedback mint eBay account I'd rather not lose, but if it comes down to it I figure I can rebuild a similar account in 3 months. It's not TOO bad of an idea because one of my detailed seller ratings is kinda low (4.4) and I think I can do better. But at the same time, it seems like a big waste to me =(

My options would be...

- Lay low on eBay for a while, change up ALL contact into to my business
- Start another eBay username in the name of my business, with entirely different contact info
- Do nothing

Cliffs:
- Info I don't want to be posted gets posted
- Am I overly concerned, should I change info, or should I start anew?

//edit
So in my extreme paranoia, I am going to create an internet persona and a RL persona. All my internet BS will use one handle (probably ns1 still), go to a specific email account, google searches, mailing address, domain registar, etc. My RL persona is going to be WAY different with absolutely nothing in common. New email addy's, domain's registered under my business name, real or business address, etc, etc, etc. FTS, I feel violated.

Please add another option for not being so opinionated on a message board.

Kinda defeats the purpose IMHO. I'd rather start from scratch if that were the case, honestly.

You don't know how he found your ebay ID? Put "neurosynapsis ebay" into Google. Pops right up.

Anyway, lay low for a month, no one is going to spend time and energy messing with your auctions.

You sell purses?
Haha, just kidding...

Anyway, I wouldn't worry about it.
I doubt those guys do anything to your auctions.

If anyone bids with zero feedback, cancel their bids.

OP assumed that he could be opinionated (which obviously could bother others) without the possibility of ramifications in other parts of his life (the classic internet mentality).

He was wrong.

UPS charges a buck or two for every delivery to a residential address. I insure everything for the full amount. Fuel surcharge, self explanatory. RURAL surcharge omg, when somebody with a dirt road from BFE, PA buys from me, it's like a $5 surcharge

Retail rates are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY different than merchant/volume rates. I get a whopping 10% off my rates. </sarcasm>

re: edro

My margins are pretty good. I don't care what I sell if I can make money.

i don't really see why you want to hide

for some of us, that use FS/T , many people know our real names and addresses (to ship stuff to/from)

i don't really see why people try to be anonymous online

i always thought it was a gathering of elitists at FW. FartWallet was the first messageboard i ever posted on, and i stopped after one member accused a friend of mine making sexual references towards her son. it was totally uncalled for - ridiculous, but she got Tim (the owner) involved and he banned my friend.

also, Tim would run contests and then never send out the prizes. he owes me a t-shirt. but still... it says a lot about his character.
