I remember talking to this girl who told me how close she came to winning this huge jackpot (it was when the jackpot was really high). She said "5 out of 6 numbers, I was so close". I said, it's not so bad, 5 out of 6 you probably got a few thousand for that, right? She said, they pay you for 5 out of 6? This was about a year after the fact, she didn't have the ticket anymore. She never talked to me again after that.

Apparently it's the replacement for your powerball #. If you get it for your PB#, you get 5x the money.

the multiplier is or powerplay is picked at random on a spinning wheel type thing.
you dont get to choose 2 3 4 or 5
it just so happened that 5 was the mulitplier last night.

We have a national lottery here called 6-49. 6 numbers, up to 49. Getting all 6 numbers get you the jackpot of course. My dad got 5/6 numbers before (i think twice actually).

Congrats and enjoy it! It's probably the closest you'll ever get to winning. I once got 4 out of 6 in our state lotto. Was only like $25 or so. Have never had more than 2 numbers since then....
