what's with truck racing in nascar? why would you want to design something meant to race in the shape of a truck and make it slower?

Too bad the owner of the World's Fastest Truck likes the World's Crappiest Guitar-Noodling Heavy Metal.

That thing is pretty amazing. My guess is that the dyno pull was at low turbo pressure w/o nitro, and that little fan probably wasn't producing enough airflow for the ECU to let the engine run at full power. That's a heavy truck, and it would take a hell of a lot more than 497 bhp for it to run a 10-second quarter.

It's still a fvcking POS chevy truck. I wouldn't trust my life going that fast in that piece of fvcking crap ever. So, some dickhead made a brick go fast in a straight line. Big deal. It still can't corner worth sh!t. I remain unimpressed.

Not really. Just not impressed with big heavy chunks that go fast in a straight line. GM remains at the bottom of my list of vehicles that I would own though right along with Hyundai, Kia and VW.

There's nothing really wrong with GM/Chevy trucks and the big engines that go in them.. I have an '81 Custom Deluxe and it's a solid truck.

The HiPo 350 makes it just that much nicer. :D

The fuel economy kills though.

Those power numbers are bullshlt for the ET's that the truck is running.

I ran the ET and MPH on a power/speed calculator, using 4500lbs as an estimated weight....and that is a VERY conservative weight estimate.

It would require 684 HP to turn that ET at 4500 lbs. A stock truck should weigh more than that.

My Chevy race truck weighs around 4030 lbs w/me in it, and runs 6.96 @ 99mph in the 1/8 mile
That roughly converts into a 10.86 @ 124mph in the 1/4. I know that I have around 645hp on the motor alone, no nitrous.

So that truck is either shooting a crapload more nitrous than he said, or the base HP w/o the bottle is more than he claims.
Either way, it's still damn fast.

One day you'll have to step out of the 90's, and face the fact that GM is no worse than many of the brands you hold dear.
