While I think this is way to much for a 64 Meg card even with this interesting fan system, just curious has anyone overclocked it? If so how much? Compared to a 4200 with a normal HSF :D

As much as I like Abit (using their mobos since years), I think this is useless crap. The 7200rpm cooler makes a lot of noise, just to get 5 Mhz more out of your Ti4200 GPU and you pay a premium for it. Overkill. Period.

Something for people that drive cars with extra large exhaust pipes.;)

Cheers

I'll be the first to say that I think it's pretty cool!

However, I do not like the fact that it wastes a second slot...I'm using all 7 slots in the back of my Lian Li and could use a couple more. :disgust:

It's definitely *THE* riciest videocard made to date. ;)

from what i understand both the agp slot and the pci slot under it will share one irq wich will impact on the preformace of the card. granted i never tried it but it seems logical to me and it makes the argument about waisteing a slot pointless as the "wasted" slot is essentalty used to increase preformce in the first place.

The sharing of one IRQ can't make that noticable impact of performance. If the two cards were conflicting making one unusuable or disabled, then yes, it can. However, IRQs are shared by several devices at a time.

Besides, I usually put my USB 2.0 adapter cards/audio cards (that come off the motherboard's headers) near the AGP slot. Just a personal preference, I know, but again that IRQ sharing/performance won't affect the people that do the same like me.

Unless you're using a FireGL or some other rendering card, a double-width graphics card is definitely a waste of space in my book. Period.

The agp and 1st pci slot does not always share IRQ. On my mobo TUSL2-C, 1st pci and 5th pci slot shares the same IRQ.

fair enough, i didnt even think about the usb adaptors and audio cards nor did i know about situations like that asus board, learn something new every day:)

Unfortunately that Wasted slot couldn't be in a worse place. Many dual video card setups require the PCI video to be in the first slot and no-other.

It looks cool and all but is pretty worthless. And why would you VENT hot air out the back. I mean I appreciate keeping my internal temp down in my case and all but I'd think that having external air as an INTAKE would make more sense.

I would disagree. Put your hand towards the back of your case? If it's anything like the one's I've been around, then it's probably noticeably hotter than the air surrounding other parts of your comp. You really wouldn't want all that hot air being expelled from your case and power supply to be sucked right back. Using hot air to a) cool an already hot graphics card and 2) re-introduce the air you wanted to get rid of in the first place is not generally a good idea.

I don't know how practical the Abit System is for graphics card cooling, but the goddamn air pumped out by my ti4600 is hot as ballz. I'd appreciate a card that could pump the air directly out of my case.

That vent is a great idea IMO. Now if they only made Radeons I'd be willing to buy one. :)

I was going to get one, but from the 2 reviews I've read the card is very loud!! my pc is already a bit louder than I would like..

here is some linkage to reviews:

Ok, I'm gonna drag this argument out for one more post... :D

Room temp is 72, Case temp is 95, Room temp in the back of the case is about 80 at most (where the exhaust for this particular card is...probably hotter up near the PSU exhaust).

I'm still thinking it would be a better idea to have an INTAKE instead of an exhaust. Sure that hot air gets vented inside the case, but it would be doing that normally anyway. The idea is to cool the GPU. The GPU is going to cool alot better with 80 degree intake air than with 95 degree intake air. The exhaust from this process will also be a bit cooler with 80 degree intake than if it was just intake/exhausting completely internally with that 95 degree air inside the case.

It's all still a silly idea. If you are going to go with some sort of wierdness to cool a card, go with water or AC.

All you have to do to win this disagreement is post again...I'm not going to beat on this trivial matter any more :)

I see two big downs with that card.

For one thing, noise, if they could make it with a lower RPM fan, it would be a nice.

And secondly, price, why not just buy a 4400 instead?
