current system rig:

A64 X2 3800+
Asus M2V
2GB DDR2 800
eVGA 8800GTX
Seagate X15.3 36.0 GB @ 15000 RPMS
XP Pro SP2

Thinking about going SLI, but the parts are expensive...

Should I stick with my AMD and just upgrade to a nForce 590 SLI mobo plus new PS, or should I go Intel C2Q with new nForce 680 mobo and PS?

Price difference is probably just the addition of the new intel proc., but how much more FPS can I get from the new CPU?

All I play is UT3 and all I care about is improving the FPS. do you think I will get much more FPS by going C2Q, or can I achieve what I want by just adding SLI?

price will be

new mobo $200-250
new PS $160-200
new vid card $500
total $910
with new proc $1190

If you're upgrading your mobo, you may as well upgrade your CPU as well.

About that, your mobo budget is a bit higher than it needs to be.

This would work fine.

EDIT: Missed your quote below the first time. Your best bang for the $ for FPS will be to wait for the high end 9800 cards. I'd guess that's less than three months away.

if your going with a q6600 then you want to go 780i not 680 (unless you don't care about overclocking).
