Wow, go figure, charter rep helped me instead of rip me off

My charter cable internet modem died after about 5 years, so in stead of replacing it, I just bought a dlink off newegg. Then when I called to give them the MAC of the cable modem, the guy goes, you should upgrade to the 3 mbit speed. I started to turn it down, then he says, the package that you have, has changed since you signed up, so let me upgrade you and change the pricing... my bill is now 8 bucks CHEAPER than it used to be, with the slower cable speed...

Go figure, I am just used to the cable companies ripping me off, Kinda surprised that the guy went through the extra trouble on his own... Should have gotten his name so I could commend him to his boss...

Don't tell his boss that he helped you, he'd probably get fired.

If it were possible to send him a token of your regard directly, I'd go for it; but I'm pretty sure that he had to violate the "do evil" policy for service representatives to help you out like that.

I got a flyer in the mail saying they offer 10mbit for free upgrade in service (I'm at 3 now) in my area now but I know there's got to be SOME catch, it is charter we're talking about here

i dont think they do the first 3 month pricing for switching service plans but i hope its not temporary pricing

dunno if u thought of that

Yeah, I asked about that, pretty much since I did not beleive him, he told me that is the flat rate, no promotion for my area...
