I noticed my temps were pretty high for just web surfing... (40C) so i the inards of my pc... oh my... the amount of dust was unbelievable! After around 15 mins of de-dusting my pc... powered up my pc... low-and-behold... temp is now 33C... yes a whole 7C! So... clean your pcs every now and again... or get dust filters. peace out.

Tell me about it! I removed the dust filter from my Lian Li case the other day and my case and CPU temp dropped 5C - the filter was completely clogged with dust. At least it was not IN my case though :)

Worked on a computer the other day that was located inside an automotive garage. They said it was running slower than normal (it was an AMD K62 500). I used their air compressor and blew out the inside, you could not even distinguish between cards and cables, the whole inside of the case was 2 inches thick in dust and grease. Put it back together and it worked fine. Another $65 in my pocket. Not bad for a 2 mile trip and used their compressor (whole thing took about 15 minutes).

At least you fixed it, TssTech2. The IT guys for my employer aren't quite so sharp. Came out to fix my super's machine three times- It's an industrial environment, high dust levels. It won't work right, so the boss shuts it off, calls IT. They show up hours later, run some diagnostic voodoo, pronounce it OK, leave. Boss goes to work, machine locks up after an hour. Repeat, and again, every few days.

Super is getting frustrated, so I ask if I can take a look at it. Crack the case (major violation of Company Policy, like I care) blow out massive dust bunnies, works like a champ.

Yeh, I gotcher IT Dept. swingin' right here....

It's also conductive. Not only will it kill your temps, but I could fry your beloved hardware.
