Hello everyone!
This prob has me stumped!! I've built this system for a friend(what a sucker I am).
After complete format...While trying to copy a full CD(Windows98) to the HD in DOS, it would start copying the data & then stop giving me an error 'Drive not found'...Thinking it was a hardware issue, I replaced the CDR & cable. It now will copy 90% of the files(again, from the new CDR to the c drive) and all of a sudden stop..giving me the same error...Thinking it could be my win98 disk, I tried my win95 disk...same deal..
I can pull up the "DIR" E drive in DOS with no problems & that part seems to function properly.
I went ahead and installed windows from the CDR normally...The damn CDR works...kinda...Copys files very slowly & eventually will lock up the computer!!! Please tell me any Ideas that you may have.
MB-Asus K7V..(I think been awhile since I built it...recently given back to me due to lock-ups in Windows)
1 GhZ AMD processor Tbird I think
Gforce2
256meg ram
Maxtor 7200rpm HD
wow...just about to throw it out the window!!
Thanks,
Ross
