Yep. My iPod came directly from the factory in Shanghai, China when I had it custom engraved.

i believe once you customize it they assemble it in china. if you don't customize then they already have it prebuilt and ready to be sent out in the US.

you may be right..because I could've easily bought it with my cdw corp. account if I didn't customize it. all the pre-built ones with generic specs can be bought rather easily already in the states. But I wanted to make sure it's loaded to the max so that rosetta will be more bearable for the graphix designer. I think the customized spec made them build it in chine...but I think that's really silly. because the loaded spec is nothing but bumped up memory, faster hard drive, and 3 year warranty. they could've easily created a different product code and sold that as a package. guess they need to learn from ibm ;)
