Meh, if you're dating the girl for a few years you can start saving up. $10 K rings are a hell of a lot more symbolic than $1 k rings and if you look at marriage in the classical sense it is worth it in the long run.

When you buy from BlueNile, what assurances do you have that the diamond is an authentic real conflict blood-diamond? For $10k I'd want a list of names with pictures of everyone who died to produce my ring, otherwise it's just not worth it.

My wife's engagement ring was in the neighborhood of $650. Her wedding wrap was about $480. This was about 15 years ago.
Pretty sure this is his bride-to-be.
