So, i specifically order 2nd day shipping becasue i know that this week there will be someone at my apartment all day to sign for my package. So, it arrives on friday, for whatever reason my friend never hears the door and the package is not left.

No big deal right, DHL is open on saturday I'll just go pick it up. Wrong. Since my package dosent have saturday delivery, they want to charge me $15 to pick it up. WTF.

Not only am I saving them money by picking it up, but I am preventing them from needing to drive 45 miles both ways to get the dam thing delivered to me.

I swear if I cant get the charge dropped I'm letting them drive out here again when they wont be able to deliver the package, waste som more of their dam money.

I just stopped using DHL for my main shipping provider...

[*]It's not b/c they're slow. They aren't, they're actually faster with ground delivery than UPS or Fedex, especially coast to coast for me.

[*]It's not b/c I've had problems with delivery. They've shipped hundred of packages for me over the past two years with only two incidents which were both resolved rather quickly.

It all boils down to a billing issue which started when they began to merge their Airborne and DHL customer accounts into one.

I am set up for online billing with DHL. So I print out all of my labels, then every few weeks I get an online bill with a listing of my airbill nubmers, how much they charged me and then I pay it with credit card. This all worked quite well for well over a year. That was until they started merging the two systems. After merging, they started charging me at random $3 pickup fees for my packages (I take all of my packages to authorized drop centers, so I should not be charged a pickup fee). I could drop off 5 packages at an authorized DHL drop center, and they would charge me pickup fees for maybe 2. Then the next day, I could drop off 10 packages, and they would charge me a $3 pickup fee each for 6 of them. There was no rhyme or reason to their charges, it was just done at random.

So I called up DHL and talked to a CSR. They told me, "Ohh, we'll fix it, no problem." Weeks and weeks go by and nothing happens. So I call my DHL account representive and tell her what's going on. She sighs and says that I'm not the first one to mention the problem. She tells me that once they merged the two systems, they encountered all sort of problems. And the customers that had the MOST problems were the ones that had previous Airborne accounts (me being one of them). So she tells me to type up all of the airbill numbers affected and send them to her in an email and she was have them resolve the issue. I did so and within two weeks I had a check for nearly $100 worth of $3 pickup charges. I then asked her if I would have to do this EVERY time they charged me a pickup fee in error. She told me "Unfortunately, yes." She said that b/c I use online billing, there's no way for her to adjust it in the system and I have to contact THEM whenever there is an issue. Go figure!! I wonder how many people haven't even noticed the charges and just pay the bill.

Well, after I got my check, I got another invoice with 5 shipments listed. Two of them had the $3 pickup charge that wasn't supposed to be there. At that point I just said "Fvck You" and transferred all of my heavy shipping over to UPS. Works out better for me anyway b/c UPS integrates with eBay and PayPal and the rates aren't THAT much higher.

I will never use DHL. I know a guy that got an AR180 (rifle) shipped via DHL and he lived in an apartment. He waited all day for it and never got it. He logged into their website and tracked it and it showed received and signed by a Tammy! WTFBBQ??!!# So he called DHL and said in no uncertain terms he did not receive it and that it was a firearm. After a few hours, he went to the 7/11 next door for a slurpee or some damn thing and guess what he saw on the counter? An Armalite box with his name on it!

I know another guy that got a pistol shipped to him and all he received was an empty box.

I had only one personal experience with DHL, and it was pleasant.

Amazon shipped me a harddrive to my home address, I wasn't there and DHL call up my cell phone asking me what to do with the package. I think that is a great idea instead of UPS and Fedex who just leave a note and I have to call them back. I ended up picked up the package at DHL location.

however, that was in a small town in Missouri, I doubt DHL will call me in same situation if I am in LA.

I've had a few DHL deliveries - AMD likes to use them for promotional prize items. One time, I had a mobo en route from AMD. They ignored the "DELIVERIES TO FRONT DOOR" sign and deposited the box, un-bagged, in between the storm door and main door on the door with that sign. One day, in the middle of a thunderstorm, I started wondering where it was (AMD doesn't give you tracking numbers on these items, unfortunately) - so I just happened to check that spot. There it was - soaking wet.

Great mobo, though.

about two months ago, i had my voip kit shipped by dhl, and yes they managed to mess it up.
they tried to deliver it and I wasn't home, so they tried again the second day, but this time, they tried at an address that is about 40 minutes away from here. Somehow, from some random obscure place in their imagination, they figured that if I wasn't home, I might just be at this random location that I had never specified. Obviously, whoever was at the other address refused the package and so I had to trek an hour out of my way to pick it up at their pick up centre.
when I got it, on the box it said that *I* had refused it at *my* alternate address at the second attempt.

So I called back, I was extremly pissed, I got a guy this time. I was as nice to him as possible, i relaize that this was in no way his fault. He was cool, he looked into the charge for me and he basically ended up telling me the stupid chick i talked to was wrong. The charge was only if I wanted to pick up the package EARLY, which I wasent becasue they had already attempted delivery.

So I'm pretty happy, but as it turns out he tells me that the place to pick it up was only open from 8am to 12pm. But at least I "could" have picked it up.

I'm still pissed at my friend, they tried to deliver at 2pm. 2 PM! and he just didnt answer. WTF. It just gets me casue I paid for 2 day shipping so it would get here on friday, 1 so i could play with it on the weekend, 2 becasue I knew someone would be here to sign for it. Luckily he is staying another week or so but dam that pisses me off.
