Wow, cool new site.:-)

NFS4, dont get me wrong, I'm all for the common man being treated equal, but these boards have too many kids to put crack in the limelight.

HUGS, NOT DRUGS. 🙂

Jesus Christ!!!!!!!!!!!! :Q:Q:Q

Is that similar to a Beowulf cluster? What kinda switches/hub is being used if any and if not, how are the nodes switched by the master?

Wingnut,

Not a true Beowulf because the nodes are acting independently. Eventually, after I've learned enough, I will set it up that way.

They are connected through daisy-chained KVM switches to the monitor and keyboard, and boot off a floppy distro that grabs a NIC address from a DHCP hardware router. All are plugged in to daisy-chained 10/100 auto sensing switches and mapped to the pproxy on the server. I just added another 450Mhz, so it's up over 8500Mhz now.

Just a suggestion, but I think you should explicitly set the background of the page to white, as I do not use a white background in windows, so pages tend to look very bad when they assume a white background. Actually the only thing that looks out of place is the Team Anandtech logo with the white background. Maybe it's suppose to be like that, in that case excuse this note (it's just that the stupid 800.com html emails bug me endlessly, they forget to set the background too).

Secondly, (I think my English professors said I should never start a paragraph like that) a beowulf cluster would be redundant in this case, as the nodes are already doing a distributed computation. Distributed Net itself is similar to a large beowulf cluster.

arcain,

Good idea on the background. I threw the pages together last night, and I'm still tweaking them, so I'll add white.

True that dnet is, in essence, a giant Beowulf, but I also want to set it up locally as part of my own learning and knowledge. I'd like to be able to try a few small projects of my own.

Now, fully populated and serving up 9014Mhz.😀 Time to start on rack number two, and put these ten extra P2-300's (that all do 450Mhz) to work.

yep, i have always believed that russ relishes the moments when he can WHIP out his load... of systems

<< What a waste of a bunch of computers. >>

And there is something better for these to do? It's all fun, as perceived by the people doing it...Some people like posting all day in Off Topic, some do it in Distributed Computing..

Just because you don't like DC, doesn't mean that everyone doesnt 🙂

Just a thought...
