Watching Nightly Business Report and they just had a segment on Cisco's new router, The CRS-3.

IIRC, they said it can transmit the entire contents of the Library of Congress in 10 seconds.

I think they also said it could handle a call from everyone in China simultaneously.

Wow!

.....to another identical router 10 feet away :D ;)

I'm sure the cost is astronomical...i wonder what the adoption rate is for something like that...IE, when will the average joe's data be passing through this beast? (apart from the trial)

Make that 1 second and it could handle a VIDEO call from everyone in China simultaneously.

I LOL'ed at the last paragraph:

Even as key players in the wireless industry race to put more data in our palms faster, the CRS-3 update should help PC internet stay relevant. With the speed it provides a wealth of online video and advanced HTML5, Silverlight, JavaFX, and Flash content should be possible. Also, new standards such as 3D web content may soon be possible thanks to the faster transmission speeds.

It almost makes it sound like the average consumer should buy a CRS-3 if they are having bandwidth issues with Flash, Silverlight, etc.
