Funny all the people that talks sh!t about China has probably never set foot in China, so STFU and stay in your cave and watch all the media propaganda all you want.
I'm gonna be as objective as i can and tell you these things from my first-hand experience while in China:
Human rights issues are blown way outta proportion, the general population doesnt feel this government oppression that FOX news wants you to believe in. Sure if you go out screaming" fvck all commie bastards" in the middle of a busy street you will probably get arrested, but that isnt quite the same thing as executing an athelete for not getting a gold medal in the Olympics as many ignorant individuals suggested in many of the Olympics threads on ATOT. People are misinformed, so let me give you the correct information. I've talked with lots of Chinese in China and U.S., most of them are praising their government for its economic reforms and the betterment of its citizens.
There are also some Chinese that I've talked with that dislikes the Chinese government, lots of them are victims of Tiannamen square. Which to this day, I think is a wrongdoing by the government, and I can clearly see where they are coming from. Then again, every citizen in every country is critical of their country, without criticism, no country can improve. However, contrary to popular belief propelled by the U.S. media, there isn't lots of critisicm by the Chinese citizens to their government in my overall experience in China, people are content and happy with the progress that the government is making. And don't get me this B.S. that if people criticize the government , then they get executed with no trial. I have heard of criticisms, on the street, by the taxi driver, by the tour guide poking jokes at the politicians on our tour bus. and I can tell you this, people are not afraid of taking jabs at the politicians, and the government is not the cold-hearted government from the Mao era, they are listening, they may not like what they hear, but they are listening.
Another thing, stop arguing if the total medal is more important than the gold medal or vice versa. I can tell you this, if the country you root for is winning in gold medals, then you will support the gold medal count format. If the country you are rooting for is winning in total medals, then you will argue for the total medals count. In the end, nobody wil convince anybody, because if you can tell me that China has 4x the population of U.S. and thus holding an advantage, then I can tell that U.S. is about 10 times more wealthy than the Chinese and thus they also hold an advantge in training facilities, gears, and supplements. These arguments can go on and on and on forever, so drop it let the athletes compete with true Olympic spirits and not worry about political rivary we pressure them into.
