I had a "learn over lunch" today at work with some Allen-Bradley people. They were talking up their new panelview series, and new HMI package, which frankly had me bored stiff.... UNTIL....
They started talking about their new versions of the industrial PC. Check this baby out Linky Now I hadn't heard much about transmeta chips but they are just embedded processors and are optomised to conserve electricity for things like small handhelds and small notebooks.
I'm sure they wouldn't be very good at most DC projects though 🙁 especially since the boards/chips are expensive 😱
Oh well - seems like "powerfull" computers are getting smaller and smaller by the day 😀 But i liked these because you could literally mount a stick on DIN Rail and line em up 😀
