I didn't check the link but assuming this is NBC, here's the real answer.

1. For the first time, they are having true live coverage on the web. But one of the stipulations is NBC can only broadcast in the States. This includes TV as well as internet. Why? NBC is a US company and they only bought rights from the Olympic Committee to broadcast into the States.

2. In previous years, you had to enter your credit card (a VISA) to watch videos. You were not charged anything, they just needed it to verify US citizenship.

3. This year, you don't.
