Stellarium This is more of view of the sky from earth. Very nice

Celestia THis lets you take a tour through the solar system.

Heres' another one. DeepSky Free
A little harder to use and not as pretty as the others, but has telescope control and seems to have a lot more information. Download seems to take forever, even on broadband.

I'm definetly interested in getting a hold of some good astronomy software, preferrably free. Any suggestions?

I clicked on the moon and a pic of my ass showed up. That's not right.

With Stellarium, you can use your wheel on your mouse to zoom in or out on an object, planet etc. It will be moving across the screen because of the earths rotation though, cool.

Just finished playing around with both of them. They both have a lot of cool features and are pretty interesting. I especially like Stellarium; it lets you look at the sky from any location. Both are very cool programs, Im going to have a lot of fun with these, thanks!

Only celestia was availble in yast, so i'm going to have to play with Stellarium later. Nice that they offer a open source version.

I've been a faithful customer of Starry Night Backyard because I thought there were no free apps like it.

I wonder how these compare to some of the programs you have to pay for? I can't wait to get a nice telescope.
