not too sure. i havent got a hold of the guy yet. i will soon though. i am not really too worried about the mileage because i am going to be changing out the engine and doing some suspension mods and trans. mods (like ripping out the crappy 3sp auto and putting in a 6sp manual) along with some various others. so mileage isnt a big concern, its how the car was taken car of and the interior and such.

Is it a factory 6 speed originally? If not, don't tear up a perfectly good car and don't put a big block in it, u will be sorry. It will wreck the car if it didn't come from the factory with a big block in it already, bend the frame from too much power:) Gas mileage will suck no matter what.

yeah...no big block in this sucker. its not going to be a drag car. if i have the money, then a Ram Jet 350 is going in it. its a 3sp factoy, i wanted to put a 6sp in it for a little more kick, i might go for a 5 sp though. whatever is getting installed is going to be done professionally. i know some people who will do it for me for pretty cheap, so thats good there.

oh yeah, the SS's had a 4sp stock manual or a 3sp auto. option. i dont know if i should put a 4sp manual or go for a 5 or 6sp. we'll just have to see how it runs first :D

Nice car!

I really like the classic Camaro's and wish I could get one. If I have a little extra cash within the next few years, I'll either buy a restored classic (like that one), or a 92ish IROC Z28 (with 350 ponies!). I had an 88 Z28 and it was fast, but I'd like to get another one...

Is this a 1st car? And also - what 6 speed trannies will fit onto this engine? The only "common" 6 speeds I can think of are the ones in the F bodies...

One of my good friends runs the North Carolina F-Body Org. so I am getting most of the mod info from him, since he knows much more about this then I do. Esp. with the older models of Camaros. My knowledge stops at the 3rd gens. so this is pretty new to me. I wanted a 4sp manual at first, becuase that was more of the "stock" thing. He said a T56 6 spd would do the trick and it would be an easy swap. He also runs an online parts store (South Bound Speed) so I am going to be getting most of my parts through him easily. I am going to ask him more about that auto-manual swap and see exactly what he says. I am guessing the T56 is the part number from it. I'll look around and see.

<< Is this a 1st car? >>

Its my first car. I have been driving my parents cars around for almost 2 years, so I can drive, but this will be my first personal car.

Edit: Heres what he said about the 6sp - "junk yard is your best bet... 93-01 Fbody's youll have to buy a special crossmember to retrofit it to the car but other than that and some minor pieces its pretty basic swap."

Pretty sweet..

I was about to type "I don't like it ..." but I realized it was an old model, which I like quite a bit actually. I just don't like the new camaros and firebirds, butt ugly IMO.

My 4000lbs+ big block galaxie gets 15-18mpg so his lighter camaro should atleast get that especially after he gets a 6 speed.
