Wow Bose wave radio/cd

I just saw this thing on QVC for the unbelievably low price of 499.00.
Should i post this in the hot deals forum?

The guy describes it sooooo good.
I think everyone should have one

no.. you obviously haven't heard the wave radio.. or seen the Dave Mathews Band concerts using only one Bose Wave Radio.. or seen the Bose Wave Radio rescue the pretzel from Bush's mouth..

I will give that it is the best clock radio I have ever heard, but that's not exactly impressive competition.

It's sold mostly on marketing. My 20 year old Onkyo reciever/JBL bookshelf speakers setup sounds better.

$499 for a clock radio? I'd have to be sh!tting $50 bills before I could justify that.

If it sold for around $100 I might buy one, it's not too bad for that price, but at $499 or even half that amount, nope.

They're ok, I have a couple (first gen, second gen). My main b!tch is that there is no way to change the tone. Because of the way it channels sound, you can get into certain zones where the bass goes from marginal to "way to much" booming.

It can also be pretty positional; it sounds best (IMHO, audio being very subjective) a little ways off othe wall, and out of a corner.

You could do a lot worse.

They aren't that great. They're worth $100 maybe. Maybe $150.

I have this:

Here's the model w/ CD player:

Sounds just as good as, if not better than the Bose Wave radio, IMO. Great sound for a small radio. Good bass and a strong tuner. At HiFi.com's prices, it's a much better value.

Just hook up a portable CD/FM player to a set of Boston BA635 speakers and you'll have a far less expensive setup that's just as compact and sounds just as good. (Total cost in this case is $125.)
