I bought a BFG 6600GT OC and hadn't used it a week and the ramsink starts to fall off the ram chips. Well I try to stick it back but it keeps coming loose. I call them for RMA instead of reapplying my own thermal tape because I wanna keep my warranty. Well the guy told me to include the card and all cables. Well I was under the impression they would send me a new/retail card. If I ain't mistaken the guy told me they would send a new card.

Well I did what he said and a week later I get a small box just big enough to put a video card in and some padding from UPS. I am thinking surely this isn't my replacement. Well I open it to find a bare card and used to boot. I don't know if they just fixed my replacement or what but this is kinda lame. I mean I pay $200+ for a card I haven't used but a week just to have to RMA it for a refurb.

Not to mention I get no cables back. Its like I paid $200+ for a bare card. To boot I have no DVI to VGA adapter for my monitor. This is my first BFG card and might be my last. When I called them I tried to keep cool but was not happy. The guy told me I wasn't suppose to send any cables and that they don't send brand new cards out. He kept saying that and I kept replying I wouldn't have had someone there not told me to include them. Someone is suppose to call within 24 hours. If they don't I will call back and things will get ugly.

BTW does anyone know if you can use any DVI to VGA adapter? I got a couple from past ATI cards.

Pretty lame. Somebody screwed up over there.

They're all the same.

hi,
dvi to vga adapters are pretty generic so any old one should work.
sucks about the rma though. i just rma'd my 6800gt and they told me NOT to include any cables or original material. you must have spoken to a new csr or something who didnt know their stuff. in general though, i've found their tech support guys pretty knowledgable and helpful, though they tend to give you solutions already posted on guru3d. (which isnt a bad thing. probably most of their customers arent aware of some of the resources)

edit************

damn i must be a slow typer, 2 responses while i was typing

While talking to the dude I was thinking maybe I misunderstood him. But then I remember going over again the things I need to do and that I mention "so I just put the video card in a anti static bag with cables?" and him replying thats correct.

Like I said I will give them 24 hours to call me and if I have to call them back things will get ugly fast if they don't send my stuff back out. Luckly I have a extra DVI to VGA. BTW I installed this card and a funny smell filled the room fast. I can't tell if its a burnt smell or a new component smell. I am thinking they fixed and sent me my card back. But it should have been burnt in, in the week I used it? Or no?

I have dealt with BFG quite bit in the past 2-3 months. I would call back and ask to speak with someone defferant than the person you spoke with the first time. I have ad a few problems in the past and they made sure to make everything right. You possibly were talking with a very lazy customer service rep. I am not certain how their customer service works but if needs be, ask to talk to someone above them, that usually gets your point across that you are serious and extremly unhappy with how you have been treated by their employees.

Before you do anything like this again, get the full name of your rep, ask if there is anyway he can document/record the call and complaint. Heck, with a $200+ card i would probably confirm their RMA policy with a supervisor before i shipped it off. BFG is known to be a very good card manufacturer and has one of the best return policy so i've heard.

Strange move from BFG, they are well known for their good CS. Or atleast that's what I hear.

Yeah it seems to be working good. Played about a hour of UT2004.
