Wow, Azureus Vuze is ridiculusly fast

I just recently downloaded the new Azureus Vuze and I downloaded the HD trailer for the movie "28 weeks later". It took about 15 seconds before it hit around 1.2MB/s, which is really close to my maximum bandwidth that my cable line promises(10down, 2up). If you're into downloading huge files, I suggest you give it a try, it definitely beats going to apple.com to download the same HD trailer at a fraction of the speed.

I use Azureus for all my torrent files it tricks the ISP proxy I use so no bandwidth throttling for me

I used Azureus for a long time, then tried utorrent and found it to be superior in just about every way. I miss the cool blue frog icon, though.

nevermind that you could download it from apple.com/trailers in 1080i at a high speed

I think that they just upgrades many things about it regarding speed because I was never able to push downloads above 600KB/s, and now it's a breeze. The entire interface is also graphics now, but you can also revert back to the original look of the program. You can also search for torrents themselves using the program and start them effortlessly instead of having to go to torrent sites to find and open the torrent. You should give it a look sometime, you might like it. I didn't like the old Azureus that much either, but after this one came out I started using it again.

nevermind that you could download it from apple.com/trailers in 1080i at a high speed

Apple's speeds don't come close to 1MB/s though, although some of those downloads can be fast.

ohh. hmm, i haven't updated my azureus yet to the new name. must go dl. i always avoided the in-software updates after one time an update kind of screwed things up; especially my settings in the older versions of azureus.

I love azereus, I top out my connection from any private torrent tracking site in about 12 seconds.

Having issues with most public sites though.. takes forever.

Yeah, I think it consumes more memory now than ever. I have 2GB of RAM and only 1.2GB is free on Windows XP.

Weak, did they ditch the Java and rewrite it? I have been using utorrent for a long time for the simple fact that its a very small standalone .exe with a small memory footprint.

It doesn't really matter for me because I usually only leave it open at night along with Folding@Home, so I have no performance problems with it.
