Has ATI finally gotten the message?

All that crying and screaming are paying off?

They've been good to us the Radeon fans, and even WHQL certified.

They keep up this good work and I'll surely be back.

Now they have the GeForce 4 Mobile to compete!

Remember, Folks, competition is good. We want both Nvidia and ATI to stay healthy and alive.
Too bad, Matrox is out of the game, surely they have the R&R to do it. It's sad :(

Those drivers were sent off some time ago to be certified, you'll notice they are more than two weeks old, probably closer to a month.

ATI seems to be doing a pretty good job on drivers under the circumstances. There was tremendous pressure to get R200 to market and I'm willing to bet compromises were made in the logic (bugs and bug workarounds). I know it's still early but I'm beginning to doubt that ATI has any 8500 "super drivers" up thier sleeve. I think they can improve performance nominally but new drivers will be primarily bug fixes and compatibility improvements. I think the R250 will be the chip that the R200 was supposed to be. Having seen product development from the inside I can imagine what a pressure cooker engineering departments at ATI and Nvidia are.
